2022 Subaru Outback in Wantagh, NY

The 2022 Subaru Outback shows that some things certainly get better with age. The Outback is one of the most recognizable names in the auto industry. The Subaru Outback shows no signs of slowing after approximately 25 years of production. In fact, the Outback seems to get even more impressive with each passing year. The latest Outback is arguably the most in-demand version of the Subaru SUV in Long Island yet.

What's New?

The 2022 model year shows the Subaru Outback is still a leader in the field with many innovative changes. One of the most exciting and notable updates for the Subaru Outback this year is the introduction of a new trim level called the Outback Wilderness. While many Suffolk County drivers know the Outback as a sporty and adventurous SUV, the Wilderness takes that image to a new level. The Outback Wilderness gains nearly an inch of ground clearance more than the 2021 model, making it even better at crossing rivers, traversing rocky trails, and taking you effortlessly through snow and mud in Massapequa. The Outback Wilderness introduces new waterproof seats for the Outback family, and it comes with a stronger engine capable of 260 horsepower that is also newly available on other Subaru Outback models. More safety technology comes with the 2022 Outback lineup, and the latest Outback is more tech-savvy than ever, with the option to get an 11.6-inch touchscreen that comes standard on some trim levels.

Trim Levels

The new Subaru Outback lineup contains eight trim levels:

  • Subaru Outback
  • Outback Premium
  • Outback Limited
  • Outback Touring
  • Outback Onyx Edition XT
  • Outback Wilderness
  • Outback Limited XT
  • Outback Touring XT

The base Outback trim level gets 8.7-inches of ground clearance. All-wheel drive comes standard, and you will also get X-Mode for superior traction and handling in Nassau County. EyeSight technology comes standard on the Subaru Outback. It also has LED responsive headlights and raised roof rails.

The second trim level has those features plus dual-zone climate control and LED fog lights. The seats can heat, and the driver's seat is multi-way adjustable. A Starlink 11.6-inch touchscreen comes standard on the Outback Premium.

Leather upholstery represents a highlight of the Limited trim, which also has a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Keyless entry and a push-button start come standard as well. You will get Nappa leather seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power moonroof on the Touring trim. Water-repellent upholstery and a stronger engine come with the Onyx Edition, which also has hill descent control.

Next up, the Wilderness has a raised suspension system and more ground clearance. It also has matte-black wheels sized 17 inches. This trim also has an interior with copper accents. The Limited XT has a turbo engine and a Starlink multimedia system with navigation. A heated steering wheel and driver attention monitoring system come standard. The Touring XT has a panoramic monitor in front, power-folding mirrors, and ventilated front seats that keep you cozy during your Wantagh travels.

Design

Roof rails with integrated crossbars come standard on the 2022 Outback. Wheels range in size from 17 to 18 inches, and you'll get LED fog lights along with standard adaptive LED lights on select trims. Ground clearance ranges from 8.7 inches to 9.5 inches. With the 2022 Outback comes EyeSight technology, which is a comprehensive package of advanced safety features. The Outback has luxurious upholstery ranging from leather to Nappa leather and waterproof materials. The cargo floor is lower and easier to access this year, and the back seats fold to make room for more belongings.

Engine

Two engines are available for the Outback. The base engine represents a 2.5-liter powertrain that carries over from 2021 with a maximum power output of 182 horsepower. This engine produces 176 pound-feet of torque. A stronger 260-horsepower engine comes newly standard on some trims in 2022.
