IIHS Awards the 2022 Subaru Forester with its Top Safety Pick+ Award

And now that the Subaru Forester has won the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ Award, you don’t simply need to take our word. The Long Road to Win

Back in February, the IIHS announced its winners for the Top Safety Pick+ Award, and while many Subaru models were on that list, the Forester was not. So how did it win? Due to the supply chain issues of the last year, there were no new Forester models to be judged. But when a newly refreshed Forester was available for the IIHS, they ran their crash tests and returned with positive results. Thus allowing the Forester to win the Award.

How to Qualify for the Award

To be chosen for TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, the 2022 Forester had to go through the Institute’s six crashworthiness tests. These included:

• Moderate overlap front
• Diver-side small overlap front
• Passenger-side small overlap front
• Side
• Roof strength
• Head restraint tests

After testing, the IIHS found that the Forester earned good ratings in each category.

The IIHS said that the 2022 Forester compact SUV met all the criteria for the highest award. This was thanks to Its standard front crash prevention system earning superior ratings in both tests and for having every trim equipped with good-rated, curve-adaptive LED projector headlights.
