When we talk about fuel-efficient vehicles, we’re referring to models that get at least 30+ miles per gallon in either city or highway driving. The following are models that Massapequa and Suffolk County residents can buy that meet that criteria.
Crosstrek
As an extra small SUV, the Crosstrek utilizes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder 152 horsepower engine, and with it, it’s capable of an estimated 27/34 mpg. Its features include roof rails, heated front seats, heated mirrors, a blind-spot monitor, and more.
Forester Touring

Impreza
Coming as a sedan or hatchback, the Impreza comes outfitted with a 2.0-liter 152 horsepower four-cylinder engine that gets an estimated 28/36 miles per gallon. Throughout its various trims are features like fog lights, roof rails, an eight-inch touchscreen, and rear automatic braking, among others.
Legacy
This sedan is a perfect commuter vehicle as it has a 2.5-liter 182 horsepower four-cylinder engine and a fuel economy of around 27/35 mpg. This model also has features like automatic climate control, an 11.6-inch touchscreen, and forward collision mitigation.
Outback
Every trim of the Outback, except the Wilderness, can be considered fuel-efficient. Most models with good gas mileage use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and come with features like hill descent control, heated seats, and adaptive cruise control.
