When Should I Change My Timing Belt?

You may not think a lot about your timing belt (or about its condition) in your day to day life. In fact, you may not think about it at all until it breaks. Unfortunately, when that happens, it affects your engine, making it impossible to drive your car.

So when should you replace your timing belt?

There’s no precise science to pinpointing when exactly you need to change your timing belt. It doesn’t show obvious signs that it’s close to breaking, unlike other aspects of your vehicle. However, it is generally recommended to get it changed every 60,000 to 100,000 miles.

You should always check your owner manual for more specific information about your Subaru model. You can also always get an expert opinion from one of our service technicians.

If you have any questions about servicing your vehicle, or if you would like to learn more about the importance of your timing belt we invite you to visit us at Hassett Subaru in Wantagh, NU. Our service team, would be more than happy to assist you with all of your servicing needs!

Feel free to schedule a time to bring your vehicle in using our online service scheduler, too.
